Mr. Salsich class collected $970
We are very proud that we were able to help our Ugandan friends!
Below is a VoiceThread created by the American students.
In it, you will learn a little about the value of each coin and bill, and what can be seen on the currency.

What did you learn from the VoiceThread?
Do you have any questions about the American currency?
How is the money like your money? How is it different?

Dear American friends,
Wow! What an informative VoiceThread! I learnt so much and you all went to so much effort to make that wonderful presentation for us. Thank you!
I also want to congratulate all three classes on the enormous amount of money you all raised. That is an amazing effort! Who would have thought each class could raise so much money?!
The most noticeable difference for me between Australian and US money is the colours. Your money is almost all the same colours. Ours is bright and colourful. When Miss Jordan and I visited the USA, we had trouble telling the notes and coins apart because they were so similar!
Here is another difference - you say bills whereas we say notes.
I was interested to hear that nearly all your notes and coins featured presidents. I think you said there are only two notes that do not feature presidents? Interesting.
Our currency has famous Australian animals and people (and the Queen) but not really political people.
Also, in Australia, we do not have a president. We have a prime minister. Does anyone from the US know her name?
Well done again, I have learnt a lot!
Your friend,
Miss McGeady
Dear UPG members,
Wow ! What a fantastic video that was. I learned that on the 100 dollar bill there isn't a president on it. It is one of the people that is on the dollar bill but is not a president. Isn't that weird!
Did anybody know that?
From,
Miriam
Dear Mrs.Yollis,
We loved the VoiceThread because it taught us about American money. Even though it is our money, we still learned something new! One thing we learned is there is a nickname for the one dollar bill and it is buck.

Dear Mis. Yollis,
I can't believe that we raised 20,000 notes. The 100 dollar bill has ben how was never president.

@ Miss. McGeady,
Thank you for the great comment. I find it interesting that you do not have a president.
I have a questions:
What is a prime minister?
your blogging buddy,
Ileanna
Dear Mrs. Yollis and class,
Even though it is our money, I learned that all the bills have a president on them besides two of them. The 100 dollar bill and the 50 dollar bill don't have presidents on them. I like the 1 dollar bill because it has the first president on it.
What is your favorite dollar bill?
Your friend,
Lindsay
Dear Mrs.Yollis,
I liked the American money.
I learned about George Washington picture is on the one dollar bill.

@Dear Mrs.Yollis,
Abraham Lincoln is my favorite
president. He is on the penny and the 5 dollar bill.

@ Mrs.Yollis,
Our American money is different than the Australian money and the Chinese Money, because the coins in America are all round. Some Australian coins are not round. Chinese dollars are different sizes.
Why is the Australian money colorful?

Dear Ileanna,
Thanks for your question.
A prime minister is the ruler of the country. I think we have a prime minister and not a president because our country is not a republic. That means we are part of the Commonwealth which is ruled by the Queen.
Some people in Australia want our country to become a republic so we aren't part of the commonwealth.
Hope that makes sense to you, Ileanna,

Dear Mrs.Yollis,
Wow!That`s a lot of money I`am amazed.We call a half dollar 50 sents.

Dear UGP,
I LOVED the Voice Thread! Even though it is the kind of money I'm used to, it was still so interesting. I enjoyed reading about the Australian and Chinese money, but I loved watching the video, recognizing some people's voices, and learning facts about the money I know.
@Miriam I didn't know that there wasn't a president on the one hundred dollar bill. I agree that it's weird. Did you know that there isn't a president on the one dollar coin either?
@Miss McGeady I think the Queen's name is Queen Elizabeth the second. Am I correct?
Yours Truly,
Jamie
Dear Mrs. Yollis, Mrs. Ranney and Mr. Salsich,
I really like this voicethread. It was great that we could tell the world all about american money. I noticed a mistake in the video. Someone said the half dollar was the highest coin. It is really the dollar coin, but someone did mention that we have a dollar coin. Why didn't we talk about the two dollar bill?
Best regards,
Jaden
@ Jamie,
You are correct! Queen Elizabeth II is the Queen!
Your friend,
Miss McGeady
Dear UGP,
@Jaden I think we didn't mention the two dollar bill because I don't think they make two dollar bills anymore. I know that because I always hear two dollar bills are very rare.
@Lindsay I don't have a favorite dollar bill. All the bills are extremely interesting in their own ways. For example, I think the ten dollar bill is interesting because I never knew that Alexander Hamilton was the head of security for the U.S. Treasury Building.
Yours Truly,
Jamie
Dear UGP,
I thought the post was stunning. I have a fact about President John Adams. President Adams was vice president when President George Washington was president during the years 1879-1896.
All the best,
Aidan
